INSTRUMENT RATING (IR)

With an Instrument rating a pilot will have the ability to control the aircraft by sole reference to instruments, example, in clouds.

Pilots are taught procedures to safely descend through obscured atmospheric conditions by complying with instrument let-down and/or cloud-break procedures overhead surveyed ground navigational beacons.

The course is designed to make you a safe and proficient Instrument Pilot.

Requirements

  • Valid Private Pilot Li.cence or Commercial Pilot Licence.
  • Valid Night Rating.
  • Total of 50 hours pilot-in-command (PIC).
  • Complete IR-OPS
  • Complete General Radio licence exam (online and oral).
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate.

Practical Training

  • 50 hours cross country as pilot in comma.nd
  • 20 hours instrument flying in an aircraft
  • 20 hours instrument flying in a simulator.
  • Flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.

  • Principles of Flight
  • Air Law
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Flight Planning and Performance
  • Human Performance and Limitations
  • Aircraft Technical and General (CPL only)
  • General Radio Telephony Certificate
